The Hazel Bell School of Dance was established over 50 years ago by Hazel herself at the tender age of 18. With Hazel's passion for teaching she soon built up a school with a force to be reckoned with.
Hazel's two daughters, Virginia and Michelle both followed in Hazel's footsteps and began dancing from a very early age. Virginia excelled in ballet and spent her younger years at the Royal Ballet School in London and then went on to perform in various professional productions. Virginia often teaches private lessons at the school and also has her own successful school in Kent. Michelle also attended weekend classes at the Royal Ballet School and as a child appeared in various professional productions. At the age of 16 she began teaching some of the younger students alongside Hazel and soon realised that she shared the same passion as her mum.
Hazel and Michelle now share the role of principal at the school and wouldn't have it any other way. They pride themselves on taking a firm but fair approach with their students which has worked judging from the success stories they've had within the school over the years. They give the students the discipline and respect required to pursue a career in the dance and musical theatre world should students wish to take this path.
The school holds at least one IDTA examination session each year. We also attend up to four competitions a year for those who show a natural flair for dance. For the more experienced students there is also the chance to attend National and Regional championships across the country. There's also the opportunity to perform in the school show which we hold every two years.
Whether you're wanting your child to take up dancing as a serious hobby or just for fun the Hazel Bell School of Dance can accommodate your needs. Contact us for further information.
